Audit: PTA members verify the accuracy of the PTA financial books and records of the financial officer, and assures the PTA general membership that the funds are being managed within the state regulations. Committee meets in the summer.

Beautification: In the fall and spring, this committee coordinates volunteers to weed and mulch the grounds in the front of the school, and decorate for seasons or events.

Budget: This committee meets during the summer in order to discuss and develop the goals and objectives (programs, projects, and activities) of the PTA in terms of income and expense for the upcoming school year.

Business Liaison: This committee will seek out and build relationships with local businesses so as to solicit help and support for student and teacher appreciation, awards, and events.

Collating Committee for School Newsletter: One night per month help is needed to help compile, staple, and sort the school newsletter so it can be sent home.

Family Social (Bingo) Night: Assist in this fun night of games and prizes one night a month, usually the first Friday.

Friday Morning Coffee: This committee solicits and collects donations of coffee from parents of students to have coffee for the teachers every Friday morning.

Gold Card: Helps with copying and distributing the “Gold Card” given to students who maintain academic achievement and are on the honor roll each quarter. The card is good for discounts at local businesses.

Hospitality: This committee is involved in setting up and cleaning up for PTSA and school functions and events throughout the year. Such as American Education Week, School Nurse’s Day, Secretary’s Day, Food Service Worker’s Day.

Legislative: Keeps the general PTSA membership aware of current legislative issues affecting the education of our children.

6th Grade Liaison: This parent would work along with the 6th grade teacher chairperson and the PTSA to decide what this grade level’s needs are throughout the year.

7th Grade Liaison: This parent would work along with the 7th grade teacher chairperson and the PTSA to decide what this grade level’s needs are throughout the year.

8th Grade Liaison: This parent would work along with the 8th grade teacher chairperson and the PTSA to decide what this grade level’s needs are throughout the year.

Market Day: Coordinate and help with distributing flyers, processing orders and assisting with the pick-up of the pre-packaged foods which are ordered in advance. This is on a monthly basis.

Pick-up is one Wednesday night a month.

Reminder Phone calls are made each month. 

Membership: Organize the PTSA membership drive at the beginning of the school year. Once a month, during lunch shifts, this committee hands out PTSA membership incentives for students.

Newsletter Editor: This person compiles PTSA news information and sets up the PTSA Panther Beat newsletter on a monthly basis. A special education classroom usually handles collating.

Nominating: This committee is elected by the PTA Executive Board and is responsible for nominating the best-qualified nominees for each elected office of the PTA.

PHHS Liaison: This parent attends the monthly PTSA meeting at Perry Hall High School on the first Tuesday of every month, and reports pertinent information back to the parents at the PHMS PTSA monthly meeting, and also via the newsletter to the general PTSA members at Perry Hall Middle.

Print Shop: This committee duplicates the PTSA monthly newsletter and materials for teachers that are distributed to students. Volunteers will be trained to use the machines. The shop runs during the school day. Committee chair acts as liaison to Life Skills class and coordinates year-end appreciation event.

Public Relations: Keep in contact with local newspapers by submitting articles about events happening at school.

Reflections: This committee judges work done by students and submitted to the PTSA, in the categories of art, literature, music and photography. Pieces are selected and submitted at the county level, in the hopes that the student’s work will go on to the state and national level. This committee can work along with the Art Department at PHMS.

Scholarship: This committee reviews applications for a scholarship from former PHMS students, now in local high schools, who are also PTSA members at their schools. The committee chooses the candidate.

School Improvement Liaison: This person attends the monthly school improvement meetings and keeps the PTSA Executive Board informed of any pertinent information.

Special Education: Keep parents informed about special education issues via the PTSA newsletter.

Spirit Wear: This committee sells t-shirts and sweatshirts at low cost to promote school spirit. These items are sold at PTSA and school functions.

Student Recognition ("Red Bag"): This committee is responsible for handing out 80-90 awards each month. The awards are given to a student from a faculty member and they may only receive it one time. Help is needed to make awards available monthly.

Sunshine: Collection of monetary donations at our school winter and spring musical programs to be donated to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Burn Unit.

Talent Show-Spring: Talent Show / Star Search involves auditions, dress rehearsal, and the show. Help is needed on those nights and to sell tickets, collect tickets and other duties.

Teacher/Staff Week and Luncheon: Usually held in May. This committee work involves planning a luncheon for over 110 staff members, as well as showing appreciation in other ways throughout the week. Ideas, donations, bakers, decorators, and staying within a budget will be needed.

Toys for Tots: Committee work is during late fall or early winter. This committee involves the collection of toys for less fortunate children. The toys are then collected and distributed by the Marines.

Volunteer Coordinator: Make up volunteer lists for back-to-school night, and distribute these lists to the PTSA committee chair people. Assist other committee chairs with finding volunteers.

Ways and Means/Fall Fundraisers: (September and October for sure! Also other possible fund-raisers, throughout the year) This committee involves the distributing of fundraiser materials, collection of money and some distribution of the products at delivery/pick-up time.

Web site: Keeps Web site updated with PTSA and school events. E-nnouncements weekly.
