Perry Hall Middle School PTSA Meeting Minutes

January 10, 2006

 

Attendance: Terri Sierakowski, Pat Kramer, Robin Welbourn, Brenda Graf, Jackie Lagna, Bonnie Schaffer, Kathy Phillips, Kathleen Sexton, Allen Zink, John Wisniewski,

Minutes: For December deferred to February 14 Meeting

Treasurer's Report: Cash balance as of January 8, 2006 $16912.28

Presidents Report:

Information regarding PTA Night in Annapolis February 13, 2006 5:30-6:30. PHMS has received the PTA Council Award of Excellence. Next PTA meeting is February 14, 2006. Bylaws available on the table to put update books. Need to elect a Nominating Committee all positions for the School year 2006-2007 are open.

 

Motion: To Select a Nominating Committee

1st Brenda Graf     2nd Jackie Lagnum  PASSED

 

      New Nominating Committee:

       Glenn Krause, Jim Ports and Deb Kozlowski

 

Toys for Tots: very successful

 

Sunshine Committee:  reported $1450.00 from the Winter Concert

 

Ways and Means: (Originally deferred from December) Fund raiser for Katherine Beich catalog or Baltimore Coupon Book cost $25.00 buy one get one free and $10.00 per book profit. Fundraiser needed due to low profit on fall fundraiser and to date on Marketday.

 

Motion: To use the Katherine Beich Catalog as a Fundraiser

1st Terri Smith    2nd Bonnie Schaffer   PASSED

 

8th Grade Liaison: (Unable to attend sent info) January 11, 2006 8th grade having an assembly about Matter. Some of the teams have read The Witch of Blackbird Pond. After completing the book 2 teams went to the computer lab and experienced a real witchcraft trial. The students found it to be very interesting. Principals Report:

PHMS now has access to ConnectED - record a message and send to all families within minutes. Involved in a Pilot program (1st of 40 schools) Tools for Schools Air quality.

Volunteers to check air quality in PHMS ... Complete tour of entire school with a diagnosis. Need a parent volunteer administrator, student, teacher and the head custodian to accompany the Air quality inspector. Recommitting on stressing writing standards.

 

PHHS Liaison: (Unable to attend sent info): Thursday January 12 High School Session Orientation beginning at 7pm.
